Lots of fun, but equally forgettable. SkullHozer said 8 months ago

I deleted my comment because I noticed you saying it's not your idea of fun. And it's such a completely fruitness discussion that I decided to not add fuel to the flame. Anyway, I think there's always an element of humour and lightheartedness in Raimi's horror movies. Take it or leave it. shah said 1 year ago

@Shah's "It's fun": But it says Horror/Thriller, so I'm not expecting a silly movie. Plus, it feels like it's supposed to be scary/creepy, but it just ends up being funny, and to me it doesn't seem to be quite voluntary. If it is indeed a comedy I understand more, and I'd feel Raimi achieved what he wanted, but I wouldn't like it any more I guess. Betamonk said 1 year ago

It wasn't really a spoiler I guess, so it's safe. Betamonk said 1 year ago

I have not seen yet, so I will not read your answer morningstar said 1 year ago

I just think so many of the scenes seem to be put in as "sabotage", like when a dead person rolls over a girl and 10 gallons of goo pours over her. Or when an old person with no teeth starts sucking on a girls face.

Those kinds of scenes just makes the movie silly to me, which is what I mean: "bad" as in not trying to be a proper scary movie, but instead trying to be a silly movie that resembles a well-made horror without ever being one.

I could go on, as there are a lot of scenes that just made me wonder if they found the director/writer in kindergarten (while I know they didn't of course). I like what Raimi has done when he has not made zombie-flicks by the way. And I do like Braindead and Bad Taste for example, so it's not like I hate everything not standard action.

I just don't understand what on earth there is to like about this movie.

"It seems like it's made to be bad"

What exactly do you mean by that?
morningstar said 1 year ago

Old, toothless women sucking on peoples faces is not my idea of fun. It seems like it's made to be bad, and I personally don't appreciate it. There is \nothing\ scary about it, so I don't even know what I'm left with after watching it..? Astonishment, bewilderment.

Not my cup of tea, it's that easy I guess.
