Apartment building superintendent Cleveland Heep (Giamatti) rescues what he thinks is a young woman from the pool he maintains. When he discovers that she is actually a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the journey back to her home, he works with his tenants to protect his new friend from the creatures that are determined to keep her in our world.

Well, I actually finished watching it.

I thought it was fantastic. Didn't think I would, but I did. The story, the acting, everything, just really enjoyable. If you are on board with the premise, I think he really follows it through solidly without disappointment. An interesting fairytale with a great mood.

I liked it. It’s M. Knight’s social commentary. SkullHozer said 3 years ago

I fucking loved the premise of this movie. As you say, it had so much potential.
Maybe I over-hyped it for myself (or American TV did, every ten seconds)
But I fell asleep half-way. So I guess I can't rate it yet.

This movie is an even worse example than "the Fountain" of an ambitious movie that couldn't quite "follow through". Good enough, but could have and show have been so much better. Betamonk said 3 years ago
